Most of us have been hearing about Samskrit language at various occassions. Some of us are genuinly interested in learninig it.
Following are some hurdles/reasons that keep depriving individuals of learning Samskrit during their lifetime.

11.1 Reasons Out of Ignorance
11.1.1 Samskrit learning is very difficult
11.1.2 Samskrit language is outdated
11.1.3 Learning Samskrit language is not necessary to me
11.1.4 Samskrit does not affect me being happy
11.1.5 Learning Samskrit has nothing to do with my understanding of Indian culture

Samskrit language appears to be difficult to learn because of the innumerable rules and regulations.
But it is not so.

10.1 Much Easier To Master:
English is very difficult to master, but we do not realize it, as we spend years and years learning it. One can master Samskrit by putting 25 % of this effort.

10.2 Derivative Power Of Samskrit Words:
The derivative potential of Sanskrit words is rational and breath-taking. Every single Sanskrit word has a meaning built into itself;
The root hidden in a word contains the meaning of that word. Hence a Sanskrit scholar seldom runs for a dictionary to find out the meaning of any new or a strange word one may come across.

10.3 No Uncertainties with Samskrit:
There are no uncertainties and contradiction between the spoken and written word. For e.g.: in English a spoken `see' can be a written `see' or `sea' with totally different meanings. It is not so in Samskrit.

10.4 Samskrit Words are easy to remember:
Word 'Samskrit' is break down of 2 words 'samyak krutam'...i.e. well done.
As its name itself explains, it is systematized and perfected. Its alphabets are impeccably arranged.

Samskrit Benefit 4: Your True Friend Through Your Journey

This benefit is about one's personal exploration as a human being, or one's spiritual journey.

4.1 Two thoughts for pondering to begin with...

4.1.1 On one hand, there is a sense in modern times (specially in the west) that the spiritual experience is separate from day-today experience.

4.1.2 On the other hand, there are certain historical religious philosophies which ask for 'renunciation' or 'sacrifice' in this life (without any human experience or understanding)....... for better life in 'Heaven'.

4.2 Coming back to normalcy...
Recognized scholar of many cultural traditions, theoretical physicist and entrepreneur Dr. Dean Brown indicated "When it comes to human cultures, while there have been different types of streams (such as Hebrew, Mian, American Indian, African, Polynesian, Chinese, Samskrit), they have one core thing in common....they are all based on 'experience'."

In one's spiritual journey , or
in personal exploration of being. ...
......'Progressing through experience' is the key.

In fact, Dr. Brown further mentioned that going through experience by vedic (Samskrit) way is 'nicer' because it is thouroughly developed.

Let's elaborate the above point a bit further...

4.3 Referring to experience, it is generally said that as one starts to reach new heights and new peaks (of achievements, awareness), he/she feels more and more lonely.... ..(in this context -lacking capable resources)
Well, Not true at least for a seeker who has Samskrit's company.

4.4 For 'Sholkas' and 'Sutras' (let's call them Samskrit Poetry for simplicity)...
For a beginner in personal exploration, there will be wonderfully straight, and correct meaning.
For an advanced seeker, the same Samskrit text will offer a deeper and yet equally correct meaning.
As you evolve in spiritual journey, Samskrit reveals more profound meanings to you.

Samskrit holds your hand all the time through your journey.

4.5 Examples:
4.5.1 Commentary on Bhagvad Geeta (one of the most important Hindu scriptures) has been written by numerous enlightened souls from Dnyaneshwara to Chinmayananda, to Shree Prabhupada. They all are beautifully different, yet all of them in sync with the original Samskrit source.

4.5.2 In fact, you may come across a few seekers (if you have not yet so), who will mention something like this....
'I read this Sholka in Geeta after a few years. Now I understood it much better.'

4.6 What's the Fact ?
The fact is that the progressive journey of an individual seeker is not a generic one. It is unique to him, based upon his experience, consciousness in his being, his willingness (as key factors).

Contents of Samskrit language do not rush a seeker into a 'non-logical' or 'commanding' philosophy that his progressive mind has not consumed. They help his consciousness to reach a new level of awareness through his experience; thus making him ready for a richer experience of enlightenment...starting from where he is.

Isn't it like a true friend who does not give up on you, wherever and however you may be ?

Most languages are created with obvious goals of transmitting ideas, thoughts, logic. Samskrit created to transmit "Vibrations" also.

Vibrations have phonetic importance. They will work on you.
Very vibration embedded in Samskrit language character, would transform your state of mind.

Linda Sparrowe, renowned writer, mentor and yoga practioner in her article 'Joy of Sanskrit' published with 'American Sanskrit Institute', mentions ,"The design of a Sanskrit is such that the sounds perfectly express the vibrational essence of that (object or theme) which they describe."

Example: Most of people who chant Mantras, do not know the full meaning of a mantra;
But still feel happy, relaxed while chanting them.
Ever wondered... Why ?

Let's try to understands this.
While usual conversational languages help us connect with the outside world, their forming characters do not have thought connected to them.
Example...In English, character 'A' does not have any meaning (beyond the fact that it's first Roman alphabet)

In Samskrit, each character
- has a meaning and
- represents a unique sound.

in Samskrit, sound character 'A' means creation. 'A' is connected to the sound of generation.
Eventually, 'dhatus' (basic words)...which are based upong 'sound characters' ....have meaning.
Hence words.... which are...based on dhatus....have the specific meaning and function.

Samskrit was formed with deep and profound understanding of sound,thought and being.
No surprise, vibrations on Samskrit positively work on you, even if you do not understand them.

It's worthful to understand Samskrit; but even if you do not understand, it will create its own effect on your being....not just linguistic, but phonetic also.

Experiment for you to try:
Consider an infant (below 2 years) that cries in the beginning when it gets up from the sleep, even though you try to soothe it...say 'X' number of times.
Try to talk some simple Samskrit to it, when it gets up crying next few times, or even otherwise..

Samskrit Benefit 2: Most Scientific Language On Earth

2.1 Samskrit is based upon sound. (Most languages are text-centric or pictographic in nature). If sound changes, meaning changes.
36 consonants, 12 vovels and root-words(called 'dhatu') are core to Samskrit.

2.2 Each root has a meaning. Morphology of Samskrit for word formation is unique and of its own kind. A word is formed from a tiny seed root (called dhatu) in a precise grammatical order.
'Dhatu' is a feature unique to Samskrit.
Each word can be broken down to the root, in similar way a computer algorithm would parse a word.
Ex. word 'Guru' : This is divisible into 'Gu' and 'Ru'. 'Gu' means darkness and 'Ru' means removal. 'Guru' is therefore he who removes darkness(i.e. ignorance)

2.3 Samskrit is self contained. Sequence of words does not matter in Samskrit sentence. Each Samskrit word is beautifully rule bounded.
example:
In English, 'Rama goes to Village'. Now if we re-shuffle the words a little, then 'Village goes to Rama'.
Second sentence is absurd in English, and equivallent sentence would be similarly so in Latin, Greek etc.
Now in Samskrit,
'RamaHa gramam Gachhati' Vs 'Gramam RamaHa Gachhati' Vs 'Gramam Gachhati RamaHa'
Change of sequence does not alter/invalidate the meaning of Samskrit sentence.

2.4 Samskrit is not time-bounded. It is systematically timeless.
There has never been any kind, class or nature of change in the science of the Sanskrit grammar as it is seen in other languages of the world as they are passed through one stage to another of time or of locations.
Meaning and pronunciation of any word ( say 'Aham') spoken thousands of years back in Indonesia, remains exactly same, when it's spoken today in remote villages in India.
The Samskrit is bounded by around 4000 rules, which help it to be timeless.
Samskrit has finest level of grammar any language can have.

2.5 Rick Briggs, a NASA scientist, published a paper on how Sanskrit is the only natural language that could be used to program artificial intelligence.

One of persons I know in India is a typical middle class family leader. Around the time of his conversion to Christianity, his physical assets got doubled for unexplainable reasons. The new assets acquired (within span of days) had all praise for 'Jesus' written all over them.

3.3 Love Factor (Illusion, Positive Awareness, Perception):
Example. How Michael Jackson got into Islam. Works on 'intellectual' level...

4 What is Significance of Conversions ?

4.1 History has shown that a person who goes away from a religion for any cause, has higher chances of doing damage to his old religion, than the person still being part of that religion. The extent of damage done to the old religion is roughly inversely proportional to time spent in new religion.

4.1.1 Why were Islamist rulers able to conquer good part of India,and damage the backbone of long living Bharatvarsha? Were all the cruel soldiers of Islam imported from somewhere else ? No. Refer to the above statement.

4.1.2 Why did Christianity start spreading left and right, when Empire of Rome was converted in late 4th century ? Why did long living original Roman Civilization break down so fast after that? Refer to the above statement.

4.1.3 In modern world, ex. in Orissa or Kerala and now in parts of Maharashtra, why are new-converts (to Christianity) working much harder than traditional Christians, to get people converted into Christianity ? Refer to the above statement.

4.2 There are other obvious factors such as principles of the religion itself....the way they are laid out to the community. If the religious foundation is faulty but religious self esteem is higher, and the head count is higher, it forms a hazard like a living human bomb. And that is liability to Mother Earth.

5 Why Conversion From Hinduism Is Damage To Hinduism ?

5.1 The Conversion Pattern:
Relating to a conversion activity in context with Hinduism, Chances of finding that a person is getting away from Hinduism is much higher than a chance of finding that someone is getting to Hinduism.

5.2 Damage to Relgious Self:
For any religion to live, a religious self-esteem in minds of people is very important. That goes beyond traditional rituals and personal practices. Hinduism has mainly lived since has been a way of life. Its principles have been traditionally in the blood of people. Ex. Compassion, Peace, Human Tolerance, Service; And their connection with the fact that diverse set of creeds (Jainism, Buddhism etc. ) existed within Hindu civilization. These have directly fed the body of Hindu society to flourish its religious self esteem.

5.3 Traditional Way Of Life And Modern Social Dynamics:
Changes to modern societies have been inherently bringing the changes in ways of life. Religious rituals are still useful, but they are partly becoming inconsistent with new styles of day-to-day living.
The old traditions of Bhikshuk Student earning 'intellect' or Dnyana by going door to door and saying 'Om Bhavati Bhiksham Dehi~' is long gone. These things are increasingly seeming artificial.

The traditional rituals (lightning lamp, bowing to elders) are also being challenged by 'intellectually' stubborn mind.
(Funny example: When people put their shoes at the temple door for their convenience irrespective of the fact that there is a shoe-rack outside the temple with instructions, and if someone keeps those shoes in the racks to help keep the dignity of the place or requests them to put shoes to appropriate place, people may feel it's getting into their personal zone. Some may educate you that it's democracy, and that you are not supposed to tell them so)

6 If So What Would Help Religion?

6.1 Raising One's Self Esteem as a Hindu:
So what are the ways beyond rituals with which religion can still live and Strengthen?
By the Principles which form the foundations... not only the foundations of the rituals, but the foundations of the religion itself.

Exploring and practicing the foundational principles with awareness in context with religion will help religious Self Esteem to grow.

6.2 Helping Fellow Hindus In Need:
One part of it would be helping the needy. Example...
Why to feel guilty helping a few Hindu Bhutanese refugees coming to USA who may loose their religion in the quest to service and improve ?
Who feels guilty when few billions of dollars are pumped from western Christian communities
in countries like India, Africa to 'Spread Love Of Jejus' worldwide ?
Does anyone share the guilt when petro dollars and Euro dollars are poured into Indian, Pakistani Madarasas to ensure young 'Allah Ka Banda' reads Quran and Hadith properly and is in good shape ?
(By the way if you have doubts about what's wrong in it, try reading some Quran and Hadith yourself. Yes I did try)

No no, wait....we are not getting into others' footsteps by helping other fellow Hindus . We are referring to helping people from our own religion, from loosing their religious self-esteem.
It not only goes to the great cause of helping them or religion, but also raising one's religious self, hence self-esteem itself.

6.3 Helping Any Needy:
Now I can hear global citizen inside you, asking...how about helping as a human being , rather than just a religious being ? ....
Sure go ahead and help Bhutanese Hundu/Buddhist refugees coming to USA in need of shelter and means to earn food.

Yes, ...in case you feel helping the Hindus in need and helping a non Hindu in need are two 'exclusive' things.....you come back and say..'How about helping others non-Hindus in need....?
Of course it's an awesome human value. And this article should not stop you from playing your 'human being' part.

A Side note, Hindu Civilization has been a source for a diverse, rich literature of all kinds....Science, Religion, Art. Example... Yoga can be looked in all 3 of these ways. Vedas are assets to be forwarded thru next generations. Named here are just 2 out of many.
These assets and principles of life, are not to be lost like most of the rich literature at Nalanda university in 1193 A.D. which was burning at the hands of Invading powers for several weeks, and was lost upto significant extent for ever.

Of course gone are the 'old' days, where conversions happenned with the tip of the sword.
But history repeats itself. Methods change. Principles are the same.
Systematic conversions is new branch of study for those who do have skepticism about this fact yet who don't want to give up and do more research.

7. Religious Self Esteem
Coming back, the point is of Religious Self Esteem. If it is confined to my rituals and my interpretations of religions without quest to explore identify and quest for the deeper meaning, then it won't do much damage to the religion itself, but it won't do good too beyond it's mere survival and grand self illusion of the self.

On the other hand, putting oneself to test and reviving it against the principles of relgion and humanity would be an awakening experience.

And I am positive..... Raising religious self of a Hindu will hardly do any damage to any other religion, or society. It hardly has.

Maharashtra Forts For Sale - II : Sihangadh

1. Government Funds' Allocation
Number of forts in Maharashtra are being allocated 'few crores of rupees' each for repairs.
Sihangadh is one of the first ones. Funds summing approx. Rs. 16 Crores have been allocated for doing the fort repairs. This is on top of a Pune Municipal Corporation's 'work' going on involving the total of Rs. 5 Crores for the slopes of the fort.

2. Significance of Sihangadh
Pune region is considered cultural capital of Maharashtra and historically one of locations of country carrying cultural pride.
Sihangadh 25 km west to Pune city, is a hallmark of bravery and valor displayed by Marathas against Muslim invaders.
No wonder, most 'Puneits and many history loving Maharashtrians and Indians have emotional and cultural bonding with the fort and the region.

3. What's Hurting?
Puneits are known for their awareness for the social, and public matters. But when it comes to watchfulness and awareness regarding how surrounding forts are being abused
- by government contractors
- by politicians
- by shameless social elements
Punekars seems to be conveniently ignorant.

4. Damaging Facts:
4.1 Sidetracking the Goal Of Repairs To Favor Politician's Relative
A relative of a currently co-ruling party in Maharashtra, NCP headed by Mr. Sharad Pawar
has been awarded with contract.

4.2 Misuse of The Fort for 'Repairs'
Although terms of contract make it clear that the resources of the fort itself such as sand stones, won't be used for any addition to civil real estate of the fort, tens of contractor's trucks are digging into different regions of fort's slope for sand and stones.
The snap in the article shows a local newspaper clearly describing that the trees are being killed in order to 'aid' the 'repair' work of the fort. It also mentions that the forest department does not position itself to act against this.
The contractor is freely using four wheeled vehicle on the fort itself for his mission, although it is clearly provibited by law to do so, even for contractors.

4.3 Corruption In Repairs
The stonework being done is not enough to sustain the stones beyond a few years. Stones will come apart from the set locations. Cement being put in the gap is insufficient. Watering is not being consistently.
It is quite easy to consume these failures, by explaining at later time that....'visitors were continuously using the roads stonework was being done on, during the construction'.

5. The Bigger Danger
5.1 If Sihangadh Can Be Victimized, Other Forts Are No Big Deal:
If Sihangadh, the fort alert citizens feel probably most about, can be used as a corruption field, it is no brainer how the funds that will be allocated to other forts will be consumed.

5.2 Sihangadh: First victim in series...to be spoilled by destructive repairs via corrupt political system
It has been in news that gradually many more forts will get compatible level of funding for such 'repair works'. Rajgadh has been approved some Rs. 5 crores of such funding. Politicians are talking about rejunuvating Pratapgadh. Pratapgadh is the fort where Shivaji Maharaj killed the demon Afzal Khan.

5.3 Step In Killing Few More Of People's Pride Points:
Victimization of Sihangadh just shows the level of valueless politics and corruption the politicians are prepared to do.

5.4 Adding Shame To Indian Intellectual Society:
And this also robbery of government funds happening in daylight in the daylight points how shameless and coward, we are becoming as far as taking pride in efforts in preserving the history .....for creating which our ancestors laid their lives.

6. What Can Be Done?

Can they gather together .....at single time....with single purpose....to demonstrate their disapproval to the 'witness of Glorious Indian history' victimized ?
- This will be a unity of good souls and representation that proud history lovers are watchful.
- Coming together of similar thinking citizens may give rise to the next level of action items , which may go long way in preserving well deserved history for future generations

Maharashtra Forts For Sale - I : Korai Gadh

Had a chance to revisit Kori gadh (also called as 'Korai') in March 2009. The first visit was in 1997. (Fort was in pristine state at that time)

Fort Location

Ambavane village is approx. 80 mins to south of Lonavala by Bus.

Fort View

A flat top fort. Easy to climb.Around 1 hour from Amabavane to the top for beginner . Korigad is famous for its excellent fortification (‘Tatbandi’). There are two lakes and many cannons on the fort. Korai devi temple – the deity of the fort Korigad (4ft height). The surrounding forts of Tung, Tikona, Prabalgad, Matheran, Manikgad can be seen from the top.

Symptom Of Danger

Python of Amby valley/ Sahara City is tightening it's grip on the fort.- One can not make a circle around the fort. Most of south-east, south, southwest, and part of west has been captured by Ambi Valley.

The slope around the forts have been dug at many places. Sand and stones have been moved.

- Ambi Valley “Guards” will interrogate you on your way up to the fort. They will dare to ask you “where did you come from, how long do you plan to stay, how many people” etc
This particular guard even offered us to stay in the nearby 'Ambi Valley' resort that has been recently available !

While encrotching physical richness of Amby vally is quite evident, the temples on the forts are in bad shape. The forest deartment or tourism department did not have any presence around the fort.

Real Danger

I see this as an experiment. If the fort very near to population, and in the middle of two big cities, can be ‘swallowed’, it is easy for industrial and political pythons to ‘defeat’ the remote forts, and establish their imperial regime there.

I witness the forts representing great Maratha history are getting victimized in the face of industrial and political aggression. Korai seemed like a lion of jungle has just forced to join the circus.This is going in direction to obliterate the rich proud history. An irreconcilable damage the gospels of industrializations are doing to the History of Maharashtra.

The history is under indirect attack from new form of invaders, these are worse than Islamist invaders , much similar to modern Christian invaders.Christian Churches are gathering millions of dollars in the West saying they want to spread 'love of Jejus to poor people like Indian society'. In reality they are using these funds for brutal conversions of Hindu society. On similar lines, industrial pythons such as Ambi Valley wish to take 'fruits of modernization' to Indian society which they think is desperately seeking to modernize like the West..

This is treason.

When it comes to a discussion of Hinduism, textbooks portray all social evils as Hindu beliefs and suppress all achievements of Hinduism.
Such portrayal will lead to the humiliation of Hindu children in the classroom and eventually alienate them from Hinduism.

I personally see this as a small part of continued 'hard work' going on by Anti-Hindus, to corner Hinduism hence Indian Culture, whenever and wherever possible to them.

3.1 With no initial exposure of religion, focus on girls around colleges.
3.2 Get them 'involved'.

3.3 Onece in trap, use them, have Muslims in other parts of country use them.
3.4 Then force them for conversion to Islam.
3.5 Send some of them to Saudi Arabia.

4.1 I have been hearing for years but ignoring that Indian Muslim youth are paid to trap Hindu girls for conversions.I can not ignore this anymore.

4.2 I have also been ignoring the fact that in most of movies,the Hero is Muslim (XYZ Khan) and heroine is a Hindu one.I now have growing feeling that this is deliberate slow posioning the Hindu society.

Confession Of An Indian ‘Citi’zen

After Mumbai Terrorist Attacks, security loopholes are exposed; the sense of vigilance and care for the citizens and for the country from various ‘caretakers’ is not being seen so far.

I have been asking myself.…. “Who’s To Blame?…Who’ll Build India of my dreams?”

Answer was ....each time …”No one else, It’s me”

Why?

I blame politicians; because?….they don’t seem to care for the country

I blame channels; because? … they don’t seem to care for country….

Wait …now………………”Do I seem to?”

Chanakya said…..” That Country has problem where the people have no sense of shame, have no fear of anybody, no intelligence, or a charitable disposition.”…..

On my usual “happy” day when I am driving to office, I expect that the soldier on the border be dutiful and watches ‘my’ country’s borders. Else it’s shame, or Deshdroha !

But at that very moment, when I drive on roads, do I care to watch traffic laws?.... all of them?

I also cry against corruption and politics in government schemes….

In Oct 2005, protectors of democracy brought nationwide”Right to Information” after long struggle.

While I hardly fail mourning about politics, have I been agile enough to use the Right to Information for social cause?

I also become furious relating to taxes and ‘mehengai’

When lots of essentials are subsidized by Government, do I really make sure our daily purchases’ tax funds go till the Government?

Simply put…How many times, do I insist on a valid receipt from a shop or a seller?

I expect righteously that the nation protect us. Do I make sure to protect my own sense nationality? Or am I busy in protecting my own personality? ..Kind of “Laila Majnu” type innocent romantic smile?

I have so many complaints against the TV channels…

Trying to recollect…which type of programs do I watch?.... Informative, educating me nationally?...or relaxing ‘masala’? What do I ask them to cook for my viewing appetite ?

How regularly do I dare myself to the ritual of knowing realistic issues such as farmers’ deaths, rather than indulging in some bollywood or cricket related entertainment?

When expecting the police to fight well trained terrorists, how regularly do I do the usual exercise to keep myself fit as an agile citizen?

When expecting intelligence to know everything, do I know enough about my neighbors?

The heinous did terrorists performed against my Nation in the name of religion has no comparison. It must be answered. The political willpower must become matured to do this on behalf of me as an Indian citizen……

But don’t I need to expand my will power, raise my character to fuel the political, government will power and raise National character to stronger level?

In order to fix the house, foundation must be fixed first.

I don’t know about others, but I am gonna fix myself.

I’m gonna change myself…. with a dream that

… the parents of those involved in Rave Parties, will not come shouting with straight neck in Public.

… breaking a traffic law will be considered a matter of shame

..a smile… in case of minor collision of road, will be the way to settle the dispute

.. everyone will be so agile that every seller will provide by default, a receipt of sale

..No one is slaves of the idiot boxes.
